God Grew Tired of Us by Jon Bul Dau and Michael S. Sweeney is an amazing documentary following a few of the Lost Boys of Sudan. I was amazed to hear their story of survival. Watching their long amazing journey the thousands boys experience is humbling to anyone who consumes simple daily luxuries such as safety and nourishment. A few young men are chosen to come to America for education and the ability to work. Their reactions to simple things such as electricity, refrigeration, food, and freedom are inspirational. Jon Bul Dauâ(TM)s character pierces the screen immediately causing viewers to create a bond. You are pulled in by Panther Biorâ(TM)s personality and optimism for the future; while Daniel Abol Pachâ(TM)s profound views of human nature are impressive. This movie opens understandings of humanity, inspiration, survival, and determination of the human spirit.

Having teens I often tell them how good they have it and catch myself saying things like âwhen I was your ageâ¦â? Originally, I watched this movie as a requirement for my universities Global Justice course. After seeing this film I immediately wanted to share it with my children in order give them an idea of the great vast of privileges they; we have as Americans. Being an approximately two hour movie and having other priorities during the semestier, I found myself referring to the film, describing instances instead of viewing it again, and besides, they are young teens; they donâ(TM)t want to sit for a two hour documentary, right.?! Well I was wrong. In fact they requested to see the film. To say the least I was surprised. This is what they wanted to spend our free time, besides, conveniently being at a time of Christmas; when receiving more than we need is tradition, it was a perfect time to share the film. The stories of the boyâ(TM)s experiences amplified the difference between need and want to their young minds; while enhancing gratefulness for family and responsible mortal consideration for others.
