While you could easily tell this film was made this year and you'd hardly know it wasn't except for the technology you see on screen, God Bless America wastes its satire on banal rants by merely focusing on pop culture and people indoctrinated by television.

I don't delude myself into believing anything contrary about the mockery embedded in its intended approach, but, even if its criticism is bland, it also needs to break out of the mold and not just criticize TV-fueled ignorance.

The problems of the United States on many of these issues run much deeper than that, which is why God Bless America is as middling as its approach and ambitions.
