Review of God Bless America (2012) by Anthony C — 06 Nov 2015
A movie with a great message that is executed (pun intended) in such a manner that it almost gets in the way of its own point. I certainly felt sympathy for the protagonist but there were points, mostly in the first act with his preaching and continually consuming the media he hates, in which he became someone that his character, if he actually existed, would want to kill.
I feel this would've been more effective to get rid of the female character entirely and have a 'Falling Down' vibe to it. A guy like this doesn't need, and probably wouldn't really want anyone to converse with, through this experience, and the audience certainly doesn't need to have his reasoning verbally explained to us.
We've seen Jersey Shore.
