Review of Goal II: Living the Dream (2007) by Elliot R — 29 Aug 2008
A terrible sequel to an entertaining film which was the embodiment of hope and dreams wrapped in the beautiful game. This is a logical continuation of the story around an arrogant rising star, surrounded by temptation, acting a jerk and spending money like there's no tomorrow whilst trying to cope with his personal life which is in disarray.
The story is tedious and predictable and has no interesting or fresh take. It's basically a crap film with nothing satisfying. If I took anything away from this film it's that all footballers are tossers and have more money than sense.
Characters too have no depth and are typical stereotypes which don't evolve. There are some good story elements and ideas but it's poorly realised and remains a superficial waste of time.
