Review of Glengarry Glen Ross (1992) by Pedro A — 15 Dec 2008
This David Mamet cursefest is about boilerroom real estate salesmen scrambling to sell crap Florida land to broke idiots before they get terminated the following morning. A perfect cast of top of the line actors; Jack Lemmon as a failed vet salesman, Kevin Spacey as the management nobody, Adam Arkin is oblivious, Ed Harris as sleazeball extrordinaire, Alec Baldwin is the executioner from the home office and alphaseller Al Pacino shows up and screams for 45 minutes.
All these bombastic performances are enshrouded by a warm rainy night and a pretty jazz soundtrack. The cinematography is pristine and lush blues. Side note: I played Alec Baldwins part back in college, even though he doesn't appear in the original play.
Flawless movie.
