Review of Glen or Glenda (1953) by Garry J — 25 Jun 2006
Despite the mandatory ineptitude that plagued all of Ed Wood's films, this was quite insightful. It delves into the taboo subject of tranvestism(as well as Wood's own tranvestite ways). Quite advanced for a movie that was made in the fifties.
I personally like the non-sequitur sequences of soft-core nudity and the ridiculous stock footage. An Ed Wood film would not be the same without it. It lends the film a sort of tacky and audacious flavour.
With its brazen disregard for visual quality and copious amounts of repeated stock footage that has been jammed into a scene that has nothing to do with it. The devil's appearance is an absolute gem!
