Review of Glen or Glenda (1953) by Wayne Z — 30 Aug 2008
Overlayed stock footage of buffalo and lightning bolts. Bela Lugusi saying 'pull the string' repeatedly. A metaphorical shot of a woman trapped under a tree trunk (i think?). A man commiting suicide because society may not understand his need to be dressed as a woman.
Ed Wood requesting to wear his girlfriends angora sweater- she obliges, but doesn't seem too happy about it. A dream sequence involving Satan. I haven't seen this film for years, but this is the stuff that I seem to rermember about it.
Doris Wishman tackled the same subject of sex-changes and transvestasism in the graphic 'Let Me Die A Woman' - in which you see a fella actually chop his pecker off (with a chisel!).
