Review of Glass (2019) by Nicholas M — 18 Jan 2019
***GLASS***.
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT LISTEN TO THE CRITICS!
This movie was everything I wanted it to be! I believe truly that this trilogy is M. Night's masterpiece. I think the people who have a problem with this film, and particularly with the ending need to remember one of the lines Mr. Glass said in Unbreakable. I believe this line represents the entire theme of the trilogy: "It's alright to be afraid, David, because this part won't be like a comic book. Real life doesn't fit into little boxes that were drawn for it." This trilogy is an examination of the truth behind the myth of superheroes. About stories that have existed for thousands of years. About the belief that we can be more than what we think we are. This isn't supposed to be a big superhero blockbuster. It's not meant to be jazzed up. It's intelligent. It has more meaning. It speaks to your soul.
Before you watch it, please be sure to rewatch Unbreakable, and Split. If you don't go into Glass with the whole story fresh in your mind, you may not understand the entire scope of what M. Night has accomplished here. I am so grateful that this story has been completed, and I am very happy to have been a witness to it. Now if only they could make an Unbreakable comic to span the 19 years between the first film, and this one. That would be perfection. GO SEE THIS FILM! THE CRITICS ARE WRONG!
