Gladiator is a highly overrated movie that did not deserve its Best Picture Oscar. However, the movie does have some good qualities. The performances aren't all bad and it's intense due to the direction of Ridley Scott, but the script lacks intelligence, and the whole premise is far from factual.
An entertaining movie in the long run, but not deserving of a Best Picture Oscar.
