Review of Give 'em Hell, Malone (2009) by Leah C — 06 Feb 2010
Taking a page from Sin City, this film apes the gritty stories and stylized dialog of pulp detective novels and film noir. Sometimes it even works. But throughout, I couldn't help but feel that something was missing, and I'm still not sure what that was.
The actors do a good job, and Thomas Jane makes a good Bogart-type tough guy. The violence is cranked up several notches, so if you're sensitive about graphic blood and gore, you may with to pass on this one.
An entertaining watch that was just a bit disappointing.
