Review of Girlfriend Experience (2008) by Christopher S — 14 May 2010
One of the more successful of Soderbergh's more experimental films. The loose, disjointed plot can be distancing, and Sasha Grey really doesn't bring a whole lot to her role. But there's something about the cold, muddled atmosphere and the unexpected meshing of varying themes that keeps it compelling in spite of itself, even if it does occasionally get bogged down with tedious discussions about finances.
Interesting, but not one of Soderbergh's best.
