Review of Girlfriend Experience (2008) by Elizabeth M — 02 Jul 2010

This might be the weakest of Steven Soderbergh film. All though the movie features some ugly truths during a time when we've hit the pin-point of the financial crisis in America, it still comes off flat.

I know the direction it's going for and I can respect that. The acting in this movie isn't really at par, although porn star turned actress Sasha Grey seems to be in full geer here in her role of a double life woman.

The concept is interesting, the cinematography is brilliant, thanks to the help of the RED One. I like the fact that Soderbergh likes to explore in the low-budget aspect of filmmaking, but I don't think this movie will do much of inspiration for up and coming filmmakers like how his previous ultra-low budget "Bubble" did.
