Review of Girl, Interrupted (1999) by Hate Y — 29 Oct 2009
Wonderfully thought-provoking performances from Winona Ryder, Whoopi Goldberg, Brittany Murphy and I hate to say it but Angelina Jolie is rather good too apart from a few moments where her lips consume the screen.
The subject matter of mental illness and treatment is treated with sensitivity, depth but also humour. I'm rather glad I'm not a patient in 1968, it's sobering to think that I could've been locked away for being gay at the time.
