Review of Girl, Interrupted (1999) by Nicole F — 10 Mar 2011
Phenomenal storytelling.
I absolutely dig Angelina's performance as the straight-up badass crazy woman stuck in her own pride and arrogance.
Not sure what I can say for Winona but she's very passable.
Supporting characters dont matter too much but they help the main girl find the real answer to her incarceration.
The movie begs the question to the real face of our sanity, how the wrold makes up who we are, is it right to fit in or disassociate from the norm.
Its a wonderful script from a strong book.
We also get soft empathy for the mental patients and their harrowing journey towards recovery.
Couldnt really make out Jeffery Tambor's dialogue too much since it was in monotone but Whoopi Goldberg steals the show as a warden for Susanna's breakdown.
This is like the woman's version of 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', not as great but still good.
