Review of Girl, Interrupted (1999) by Dann M — 29 Apr 2012
Girl, Interrupted is a compelling psychological drama. Based on a memoir by Susana Keyson, a young girl finds herself committed to a psychiatric hospital after a suicide attempt, and must find sanity through her madness.
Both Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie give brilliant, captivating performances, and are backed by a supporting cast that includes Brittany Murphy, Clea DuVall, and Whoopi Goldberg. The directing is also exceptional and helps to enhance the psychological nature of the film.
Additionally, the soundtrack perfectly complements the tone and setting. Girl, Interrupted delivers a fascinating character drama and a gripping psychological journey.
