Gripping and realistic look at mental illness and how it was and probably still is perceived and treated. Ryder plays a depressed girl, who in a fit of sadness ingests a bottle of painkillers and subsequently checks herself into a facility.

Throughout the film she is in denial that there is anything wring with her and that she never intended to commit suicide but over time, she relates to some of the other patients and bonds grow between them.

After suffering through her denial, her realizations about life and personal loss, she faces her demons head on and makes every attempt to learn about herself and get better. Loved it.
