Review of Girl 27 (2007) by Susie G — 03 Dec 2008
Wow. Patricia Douglas was raped at a party that MGM held for its movie salesmen in 1937 (MGM had led a bunch of girls to believe that they were going to be extras in a movie when they had really planned for the girls to serve as entertainment for these men in the midst of a drunken orgy).
She brought the case to federal court, it was dismissed, covered up by MGM, and ignored by everyone around her, because rape at that time was considered to be the victim's fault, and because MGM owned the world.
Her story was practically erased from history until this filmaker dug it up and made it possible for Douglas to finally communicate the truth about her story and be vindicated at age 85. I was riveted throughout the entire thing.
