Review of Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning (2004) by Marius P — 04 Mar 2012
You know what this movie could have used? Some fucking werewolves! Sure, they throw in a few during the last five minutes, but they sure make their audience wait through a whatever story line just to see them.
It's also absurd to have a prequel that takes place in the 19th century but still just use the same two leads. But as they are both charismatic, have good chemistry and striking faces I suppose that is forgivable.
Ginger does have a few too many "clever" quips for my tastes though. The set is pretty solid (reminiscent of Ravenous) but what is with decent werewolf franchises doing unnecessary and subpar prequels that take place long ago (I'm looking at you Underworld: Rise of the Lycans)? The reverend gives a particularly horrendous performance.
