Review of Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning (2004) by Bruno D — 21 Feb 2017
Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning is the 3rd film in the Ginger Snaps trilogy but is a prequel to the original film taking place in the 1800s. I'm gonna be honest. I love this movie even tho it has a lot of bad things about it.
I love the 1800s setting. It's such a perfect setting for a werewolf movie even tho it really makes no sense in this franchise. The werewolf are once agin really cool beasts with good practical effects and design.
Our main characters are once again excellent in their roles and have great chemistry together. As for the other characters a lot of them are very poorly written to the point of absurdity. Performance wise everyone gives a fairly good performance despite some bad writing.
The whole story itself I found to be interesting altho it doesn't really lead to much other then to tell us things we basically already know and robs us of a true conclusion to the franchise. I still really enjoy this movie despite its massive flaws.
I may be a bit biased in this score so take it with a grain of salt but I give it a 4/5. I definitely recommend it.
