Review of Ginger Snaps (2000) by Jc S — 05 Nov 2009
Ginger Snaps is a great and very original werewolf tale. In many ways it is a metaphor for going through puberty. I could also say that it is very tragic. Ginger Snaps was an idependent film from Canada.
It is basicly about two sisters who are obsessed with murder, suicide, death in general. One night Ginger gets attacked by a wolf and cleverly enough instead of turning ugly and scary right away she starts to become a sexy woman.
It is a not a normal horror film. The performances from the two sisters were great but the rest of the acting was pretty medeoker. As you could probably tell, the writting was really great and very original.
I have never seen a movie like this. This is definetly an independent film. The direction was okay but most horror films don't great direction other than movies like The Shining, and Hitchcock and John Carpenter movies.
Over all it was a great horror film and one of the most original I have seen in a long time. SEVEN 1/2 STARS!
