Review of Gimme Shelter (2013) by Thea M — 30 Aug 2007
What an incredible peice of fortune for all who are intersted in pop culture that the Maysles Brothers decided to shoot the Rolling Stones free concert at the Altamont Speedway... and record the 'protection' afforded by the Hell's Angels. What ensues that night has been declared as the end of the 1960's hippie era.
Excellent documentary, interesting non-linear editing that jumps through time- it's fascniating to watch Jagger watching himself as the tragedy is replayed... Plus, amazing footage of the concert itself. The ultimate rockumentary.
