Review of Gimme Shelter (2013) by Diane R — 27 Sep 2007

I've never been much of a Stones fan, but I do love the Maysles and have been curious to see if this would hold my attention. It did so quite well. The Altamont footage is harrowing; the tension just builds and builds up to the inevitable tragedy.

I would have liked more info on what actually happened (anybody ever know why the guy had a gun at the show?). Still, it was pretty powerful to watch the Stones' reactions to everything that happened when the Woodstock of the West went terribly wrong.
