Review of Gimme Shelter (2013) by Jeremy B — 13 Jul 2009

While I admire the kind of direction the filmmakers were going for, Gimme Shelter left me unsatisfied. Altamont was such an incredible and iconic event and it deserved better treatment.I can imagine that at the time, since people probably didn't know as much, that the audiences could identify with the people in the film as far as being unaware of what is going on.

It is no "Woodstock", which makes sense; the Woodstock concert was ultimately more successful. I felt that while there were many strong moments in this film (and they were quite breathtaking) there were a lot of things that were not addressed.

An admirable film, but inconsistent.
