Review of Gilda (1946) by Dave A — 29 Jun 2008
For me, this is the next best film noir after The Big Sleep. Though often unconvincing in later films, in this early role Glen Ford is fantastic & Rita Hayworth is stunning; beyond doubt the archetypal femme fatale.
Everyone is so bitter and twisted; no other film of this era explores love/hate relationships better... And as for Rita's performance of "Put The Blame On Mame"; I'm at a loss for words.
