Review of Gilda (1946) by Jacob O — 27 Mar 2011
The biggest pleasure behind this Golden Age classic is Gilda herself, Rita Hayworth, who sashays through the film effortlessly, charming countless numbers of men and singing and dancing on two occasions beautifully.
She carries the film on her own and there is a worthy reference to the film in Frank Darabont's "The Shawshank Redemption". The story seems a little implausible but it shocks at the end.
