Review of Gigi (1958) by Giffy G — 13 Oct 2007
The film held my interest to the end, but I was definitey disappointed. I severely disliked all of my main characters except Gigi, and even she annoyed me from time to time. I seriously hope this movie was a bitter indictment against the lifestyle its main characters portray.
I was also muchly disappointed by the music. I love Lerner and Loewe, but almost all of the music in this movie was half-spoken. Unless you're Rex Harrison, you really can't get away with that.
The movie had wonderful costuming, elegant sets, and enough extras to make a whole second movie, but all in all, I was let down.
