Review of Gifted (2017) by Gregory C — 22 Apr 2017
Marc Webb directed one of my favorite movies, 500 Days of Summer, but he also directed two of my most hated movies, The Amazing Spider-Man and it's shitty sequel. Now, it seems, he has returned to his roots with Gifted.
And it's obvious that this film is some kind of apology and means to seek forgiveness for the awful Spider-Man movies. Though it's unnecessary (since many people know it's actually Sony and the writers who are to blame), it's still very much welcomed and appreciated, especially by me.
Gifted will remind you that Marc Webb is a director full of potential. He just needs the right material and the freedom to make that material his own. I highly recommend this film and I hope you give it a chance.
I give Gifted a B+.
