Review of Gifted (2017) by Paul D — 23 Apr 2017
Even from the previews, I knew the plot of this movie would be rather ordinary, a custody battle between a well-meaning but unequipped father-figure and a domineering but distant relative who craves vicarious glory.
But the script is smart and doesn't pander at at point, and the chemistry between Chris Evans and McKenna Grace is wonderful and off the cuff. I have a soft spot for kids that are smarter than they seem.
