Review of Giant (1956) by Glen O — 19 Feb 2009
An epic movie similar in theme to "There Will Be Blood." All of the characters age about 40 years across this well over 3 hour long drama. The knowledge that James Dean would die two weeks after this film wrapped adds a certain poignancy.
For its time it is a remarkably confronting polemic against the racial discrimination shown by Texans to their hispanic neighbours.
