Review of Giant (1956) by Adam W — 10 Jul 2009
Parts of this movie were absolutely brilliant, while others dragged. The problem was there was just to much time between the brilliant parts. james dean was absolutely fantastic, but he just was not in the movie enoug, Too much time was spent on the relationship between Taylor and Hudson.
I wish more time would have been spent on the clash between cattlemen and oilers. I also felt that about twenty minutes could have been cut. What was truly brilliant about this film was how it dealt with racism and the problems it causes.
Worth the watch purely for the last appearence of the brilliant james dean but I do not think I will revisit this movie that often.
