Review of Giallo? (2009) by Joseph S — 03 May 2011
Adrian Brody is easily the finest actor to have ever appeared in a Dario Argento film, but Argento hates actors so Brody like all those who have come before him is left on his own in the cold. A serial killer with yellow skin is mutilating women he picks up his yellow taxi cab.
Gaillo means yellow and it's also the name of the genre of horror/suspense Argento has cut his teeth on for years now. It is better than the last complete bomb in that Three Mothers movie, and at least attempts to recreate his talent for suspense, over gore(though there is some gore, but he's been gorier in the past so it's not that repulsive).
If you like Argento, which means you are probably used to being dissapointed by Argento watch this. Or if you want to see Brody in a film that is much lower than his acting abilities require, you might find some this amusing.
I did. Argento does show a bit of the old talent in a scene here and there, but is still clearly on the road to recovery from that last abomination or actual inspiritation.
