Review of Giallo? (2009) by Denis D — 09 Sep 2011
Disappointing effort from Dario Argento, one of the few Masters of Horror. Was meant to be an ultimate exercise in his preferred sub-genre of slasher movies: the Giallo thriller. Instead we get a mediocre and straightforward detective thriller where Adrien Brody sleepwalks his way through.
No twists, laughable villain and even the violent set pieces for which Argento is famous for are limp and uninspired. He still shows some stylistic flair in the 2 flashback sequences which do not make up for this forgettable experience.
Not bad, just mediocre.
