Review of G.I. Joe: The Movie (1987) by Allan C — 04 Jun 2007
G.I. Joe has never been anything more than a pro-military puff bit if you ask me, but you have to admit the film has it's charms.
The whole Cobra-La plot line is ridiculously funny (especially when characters start chanting "Cobra-La! La! La! La!".
And let us not forget the musical number the movie opens with.
It's interesting to note that the character Duke was slated to die in this movie. It should have been obvious considering he gets STABBED IN THE HEART WITH A COBRA AND BLOOD SPRAYS ALL OVER THE PLACE.
But due to the backlash from parents and kids following Hasbro killing off Optimus Prime in Transformers: The Movie, Hasbro pussed out and had the makers of this film dub in a radio call from the Joes medic telling them that Duke is okay.
Yet right after we see Dukes brother she tears for him and say "This one was for you Duke" like he died.
Good laughs all around.
