Review of G.I. Joe: The Movie (1987) by Richard B — 27 Sep 2008
Whenever people ask why I preferred the comic book to the movie, I point to this. The comic is a fairly plausible storyline about elite soldiers fighting terrorists. The cartoon was already kinda silly, but this went way too far. (Cobra is actually a front for reptilian humanoids who've been hiding under Mount Everest for thousands of years? Wha...?) Sadly, some really good animation and outstanding voice talent is wasted on this laughable story.
The longer version of the theme song used for the intro is absolutely wicked, though. Too bad the rest of the movie didn't live up to it.
