Review of Ghoulies (1985) by Allan C — 01 Jun 2013
Silly Charles Band produced horror/comedy delivers exactly what you'd expect. No real scares, lots of camp, and plenty of cheesy special effects. It plays kind of like a cross between "House" and a low-rent version of "Gremlins".
There is a decent score by Richard Band Shirley Walker and you do have a teenage Mariska Hargitay, now better know as Detective Olivia Benson on Law & Order. The film was also edited by Ted Nicolaou, who'd later go on to direct many Band produced cheeseball classics, like "TerrorVision" and "Subspecies.
" Dumb, but I was entertained.
