Review of Ghost Story (1981) by Diane G — 22 Jun 2007
I love this movie when it first came out, and watched it several times! Had seen it only once again since then (perhaps ten years ago) and this is the first time since. I still feel that it's a great ghost story; just don't compare it to the book.
Wonderful makeup by Dick Smith (it was 1981!) and I like that they had different transformations of the ghost. Nice performances from all the old boys, and for most of them it was their last feature. And I always loved Alice Krige in it, and still think she's perfect for the part.
And you get to see full-frontal male nudity, which you almost never see even today in an American film! I think this film has been given some hard knocks, and it doesn't deserve it. Just keep in mind it's an old-fashioned ghost story.
