Review of Ghost in the Shell (2017) by Zedar T — 15 Apr 2017

I enjoyed it and thought that Scarlett Johansson and all the main stars did an awesome job, not to mentioned the cinematography and the visual effects. Can't think why some folks are too narrow and have issues with it? Is it because it was a major woman lead movie, or that the lead character was not Japanese ?? Checked the ending credits and tons of executive producers were from Japan ( they didn't have a problem LOL ). I felt 'Ghost in the Shell' dealt with a humankind-future global issue, not just a Japanese AI issue ! I think I will buy the bluray as well to see it again. It was like matrix for me ... but of course, some people may not be able to stand the fact that the lead was female.

I am Asian living in North America and I am not upset so how come there are folks making blanket statements as if they have polled the entire Asian Americans and that everyone is upset??! Upset over what? If it has to be politicized, at least, make it fruitful - like dive into the root issue and not pick it on Scarlett Johansson. She is like any paid actor doing a job. I would say if I was upset, now why could the director not find an Asian actor? Oh, because no one groomed an Asian actor to achieve that level of professional stature in terms of casting, because there were a dearth of TV or movies that has the screenwriter make it a point to try and give some grooming space for Asian actors!

I recall that Jim Sturgess acted as the main character 'Hae-Joo Chang' in CLOUD ATLAS -- no once called foul play!

I actually did not enjoy the 'fabricants' portrayed as Asian (Korean) women only. Well?

There is no white washing or black washing -- just youtubers and some reporting clamouring to bitch a ride..bah!?
