Review of Ghost in the Shell (2017) by Richard S — 16 Aug 2017
I wasn't sure what to expect from this. I watched the original anime film many years ago but remember very little about it. Generally I'm not a fan of anime but I was interested to see this live action version of one of the stories that is considered a classic amongst anime fans.
I thought it was a good film, visually it looks stunning, many of the cityscape scenes reminiscent of Blade Runner. The only visual I felt that didn't work was the Major, the suit works in animation but here it just looks like Scarlett Johansson is running around in a nude suit.
Overall it was a decent piece of science fiction, action packed, good story plus you can't go wrong with anything starring Beat Takeshi Kitano.
