Review of Ghost in the Shell (2017) by F R — 06 Apr 2017
Despite its deviations from source material, Ghost in the Shell is worth seeing simply because it strikes hard on the series basic underlying premise: to provoke the viewer into examining their relationship with rapidly advancing technology.
Ghost in the Shell does this: and to that end you should see it.
Post-script: I think it's strange that this movie is panned as problematic by the far left when it does a lot of progressive things well, like positive body image, owning your body, positive male/female friendship models, consent, disphoria, and non-binary sexuality to name a few.
If the only thing keeping you from seeing this is someone else telling you it's "problematic" because of a singular casting choice, see it anyway and make up your own mind.
