Review of Ghost in the Shell (2017) by Voodoo123 — 14 Jul 2017
This big production delivers great visuals and solid performances with an engaging soundscape makes for good sci-fi thriller. As a huge fan of the anime I was disappointed this live adaption drops the philosophical/political story complexity and texture that gave the original film its unique flavour. Where technology was used like an interesting backdrop for the story it now becomes the centre frame of the story almost like a retelling of robocop using a future japan as a template to tell that story again.
Nonetheless it serves as an entertaining and engaging take on the franchise which is enjoyable to watch.
