Review of Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (2004) by Janine J — 10 Feb 2008
This is definitely my favorite film, not necessarily because of the rich and scholarly detail in the narrative, but because the animation.
As someone whose made a handful of animations, I understand very well how difficult the practice is, and I would never have been able to do this. Not only is it exquisitely detailed, but it is abundant in realistic, fluid motion of characters that evade the stereotypical "anime" appearance.
Brilliant, beautiful, and Oshii's best.
