Review of Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (2004) by Serge S — 28 Aug 2008
I've looked for the worst movie for a few minutes now and I feel bad coming to GITS 2. The first movie was quite a different sci-fi anime film but it had it's few problems. Here comes a sequel and a chance to really make what could have been the most thought provoking future I've ever seen but no they fucked it all up.
First they discarded what makes animated movies great the animation this movie is a pixar film, all computers and any love for traditional animation seems to be forgotten by this point. They could have fixed the story with easier dialouge but instead it's even more complicated (it made the 1st a unique movie in one bit but also became one of it's weaknesses).
A story on humainty as a whole at that point isn't dived into enough and we get some crap about sex dolls. It has a great theme song, that's all. Please avoid and watch the 1st instead aside from that anime is long overdue for a really good sci-fi movie that isn't cliche either, so keep reading your books.
