Review of Ghost in the Shell (1995) by Marc L — 04 Oct 2008
I'm trying to gear myself up for more animation work, and I got to thinking about Ghost in the Shell. In short, it's probably the most influential film I've ever seen. Forget the gorgeous animation and unrivaled design aesthetic, and forget the super-deep cyberpunk story that's inspired countless other movies; what Ghost in the Shell does better than anything is create a haunting mood that's impossible to forget.
I'm hoping they release an updated anniversary edition on Blu-Ray--the original dub wasn't great and it could definitely benefit from an HD transfer.
