Review of Ghost in the Shell (1995) by Kaleb G — 14 Apr 2010
(4.0/5) While this film is nearly 15 years old, it still looks and sounds incredible. There is one scene that is simply a montage of shots across the city. Normally, this type of thing might bore me, but here, Kenji Kawai's beautiful score combined with the vivid animation make the experience sublime.
The relatively short run-time of this film makes it good for random viewings, though it also means it's over more quickly than you'd like. Of course, there are some flaws. There are some scenes where the dialogue is more verbose than the content is worth, and the ending doesn't really provide any satisfaction.
I feel this film barely scratches the surface of the subject matter it references. Nevertheless, this is still one of my favorite animated films.
