Review of Ghost in the Shell (1995) by Saskia D — 03 Nov 2010
Im not a huge Japanese Anime fan at all, but this film was a great sci-fi mind trip. This film had some great visuals and a great soundtrack. The animation was gorgeous. Mamoru Oshii directed this film and he did a great job.
James Cameron (director of Avatar and Titanic) thought this film was great, Siskel and Ebert enjoyed this film (2 thumbs up) and this film helped inspire the Wachowski Brothers to do The Matrix trilogy.
What amazed me the most about this film was its animation and its futuristic vision (hacking, cyborgs, police forces and politics) The story was confusing in some parts (they are after this guy named the puppet master) and it is short, but other than that this is a great film and if you love the sci-fi universe (like me) then see this movie.
