Review of Ghost in the Shell (1995) by Jacob E — 13 Apr 2011
One of the first movies to try to "mainstream" anime. Very artsy, very adult, and very heavy on dialogue. The movie does have a lot of action, but the weight of the dialogue is mostly what drives the film.
Questions of what is human and what is technology dominate the movie and are pretty thoroughly explored. Does end a little abruptly (and it took a long time before a film sequel followed).
