Review of Ghost in the Shell (1995) by Ryan V — 09 Feb 2012
This meticulously animated touchstone takes the themes of Blade Runner and cranks it to the Nth degree. The plot focuses on group of peace officers investigating a mysterious string of assasinations that lead to a powerful hacker.
However, identity is hard to discern when the world blends organic and mechanical life to the point where it's difficult to identify which is which. The nature and definition of sentience and soul is at the heart of this remarkable, action-filled movie.
