Review of Ghost in the Shell (1995) by Ben C — 31 Mar 2013
The anime that changed the sci-fi genera..it spawned the matrix and all sort of visual artists imagery..an animation that doesn't feel the age of time..with a story that goes into the thriller genera with the boldness of any great thriller movies..
Existentialism seems to be the core of the story..revisited through the souls or ghosts of cyborgs...who are we..? What is the real me?
It serves to ask moral, questions about humanity itself rising issues about belonging and political point of views.
Ghost in the shell is set in 2029 where brain tissues are integrated to electric circuitry to make cyberbrains.
The movie explores an era where cybernization [the boundary between human and machine] is defined by a ghost which defines the individual's consciousness.
The ghost of the user is retained within the cyberbrain..
Confused? Watch it!
