Review of Ghajini (2008) by Karun K — 09 Jan 2009
First of all...this is NOT a remake of Memento. So lets start afresh shall we?
Ghajini is a powerful film based on a solid concept and a gripping storyline that keeps you completely hooked and the 3 hours just whiz by, leaving the audience gasping for more. This film was destined to be a winner right from the word 'Go'. Each and every person associated with it has contributed to the extra zing. Murugadoss has a unique style of direction which does go along way in estabilishing Ghajini as a true masterpiece. Ravi Chandran's splendid camerawork makes every frame of the film look like a painting. If you still have a little bit of doubt whether Aamir is truly the best in business, Watch Ghajini. One of his best performances ever. And Asin! All I can say is WOW! Asin as the bubbly and vivacious 'Kalpana' is refreshing and simply irresistible! She's the one to watch out for in the near future. With the right kind of roles, she is set to play a long innings in Bollywood. The comedy is perfectly in place and the sweet love story is one thing that'll stay with you even after the film is over. Although it begins on a hopeful note, ghajini is essentially a dark and sad film. The film is one of those rarities that makes you laugh, smile as the story moves on and which leaves you in tears as 'Kalpana' is brutally killed. Rahman's music is simply awesome. Behka has a great feel to it, Guzarish is simply top notch, Aye Bachchu has a great opening riff and Asin looks brilliant :) The best song is Kaise Mujhe....soul stirring..Rahman at his best. The film has already earned 210 crores and will easily go on to become the highest grosser. All in all, Ghajini is a must watch!!
