Review of Gettysburg (1993) by Maija K — 15 Mar 2009
As a European I didn't get the nationalistic oompha-feeling while watching this as I would imagine an American would. To me it presented itself as a logical continuation to Gods and Generals (even though this one was filmed 10 years earlier) - the direction is very documentary-like in this one as well, and you'll certainly end up learning pretty much exactly what happened at Gettysburg in the beginning of July 1863.
Again, watch it if you're interested in the history and the tactics (because if you're not, the three hours will kill you).
